Republic v Lebon (CO 86 of 2015) [2016] SCSC 132 (02 March 2016);
IN THE SUPREME COURT OF SEYCHELLES
Criminal Side: CO 86/2015
[2016] SCSC 132
THE REPUBLIC
versus
DARREN LEBON
Accused
Heard: 02nd March 2016
Counsel: Chinnasamy Jayaraj for the Republic
Clifford Andre for the Accused
Delivered: 02 March 2016
SENTENCE
Dodin, J
[1] I have considered the mitigating factors as related by learned counsel for both Convicts. Darren Lebon is 19 years old, a Mauritian student. He is a first offender and he is returning to Mauritius. He is a young person and he has not wasted the Court’s time with the trial and of course has saved the Court’s time and expense;
[2] I impose the following sentence;
-Darren Lebon - I impose a sentence of 6 months imprisonment which is suspended for 1 year.
[3] That means you don’t have to go to Prison. The only condition is that you do not commit any other similar offence within the 1 year period and that should be in Seychelles not any where else.
[4] If you disagree you can appeal against the sentence with 30 working days.
Signed, dated and delivered at Ile du Port on the 2nd March 2016
