  1. I have considered the plea in mitigation made by the accused himself. I observe that the quantity concerned is 43.3 grams of a Class B drug namely Cannabis. The recommended sentence for such an offence is a fine. It is below 50 grams.
  2. I have considered the plea in mitigation and the fact that he has pleaded guilty saving the time of court. I also note that the offence has been committed on the 25th of March 2017 and charges have been filed on the 08th of June 2020. The accused by pleading guilty has considerably saved the time of court in hearing an offence which had occurred 3 years ago.
  3. Having considered the facts in mitigation, I proceed to fine the accused a sum of Seychelles Rupees Ten Thousand (SR10,000/-). Time given for payment of fine. In default of payment of fine, 6 months’ imprisonment.
  4. He is permitted to pay the fine at Seychelles Rupees Two Thousand Five Hundred (SR2,500/-) monthly.
